Default New suggestion - DyER!

Well, I believe that we should keep the pickup dyes for unique colors, but should also be able to go to a "Dyer" who dyes weapons and armor into many different colors, for like 10-15k a piece. That way, it's still worth it for dyes because they are way cheaper, but those looking for unique colors can use a photoshop style pallette(sp) with thousands of colors for something very unique. Yay or nay?

Yet another came to mind - What about having "Sigils" offered at a flat 10k for a guild hall - Meeting place for your guild. Then have a "CELESTIAL Sigil" for a guild hall that you can use for GvG. This both caters(sp) to those new to the game wanting to make a guild to go hang out with a few friends in a private area, and it also caters(sp) to those wanting to engage in guild battles. My ideas FTW .

well idea number one cna be shot down by using the search button. there are dye charts with just about EVERY color that you could want to make, so the dyer would be pointless as people would still use dyes as they are cheaper.

true, but remember that dying anything with silver or black in it is a risky buisness, even with the dye charts.

i may not like the 10k-15k a peice price tag, but if you had the same color options as the cape creation pallet with the dark and light shade slider, could dye 2 or 3 parts of the same peice of armour and dye off hand items such the fetishes and other bits like wands and staffs and even your characters underwear (i am sooo tired of my necromancers grey wooly looking undies, man they must itch....)
then i would say that a dyer would be usefull.
specialy since you could get white without having to modify the game.

sure, folks who wanted plain or 2-3 bottle dye mixes would stick with dye bottles, but what if you wanted to dye your monk robe man part white, the trim parts in light pastel blue and the leather bits in dark night blue?
well, no white, and its usually just the trim parts that dye, so *beep* not happening.

a dyer with the pallet and slider funcion, and the option to dye both main part, trim and leather ect would definately enhance the individuality of the games armours.

and yeah, i like the idea of mini-halls.
kinda like a budget, 20 member max mini guild hall thing. and most people that are playing part time, who have other things to do, for whatever reason, and are short on gold and have no want to make a gold cow build would use them for mini-guilds of no more than 20 per guild, hell, i know i would, and even a no hoper at gold saving like me could scrape up 10k for that

I think the good part of the idea is that you can preview your armor ahead of time using the dyer, instead of wasting dyes trying to get that hot pink that will never work on your particular armor.

I think 10-15k is excessive, unless it's a precious mixture of black, silver, etc.

well, base it on the price of each peice of armour (how much it cost to make in the begining)
the rarity of the shade your choosing (the lighter or darker end shades being more expensive) and how many shades you use on each piece.

most people would dye their faveorite set of best armour, and maybe their fave set of common stuff, for just messing about in towns ect in.

so say, i dye a full set of 15k armour.
if each piece is woth 15k to make (dissreguarding the materials to manufacture prices)
and i choose to dye each piece 3 times.... the main body pure plain black, the cloth trim pale blue and the leather or metal trimming silvery blue...
thats a high cost for the plain black, a medium cost for the white and blue and a medium cost again for the silver and blue.
the fact that i choose the trim and edgeing in white+blue and silver+blue means that they are cheaper. if i choose the main body of the item a cheaper shade like plain ordinary blue, it would be a lot cheaper.

if i did the same with the most basic set of colloectors armour from the ascalon area, it would be much cheaper, but would have the same look as if i had used the best and last available collectors set. the only difference being the stats of the two sets.

but i would sugest keeping the cost below 10k-15k as it would cause problems, and if its designed to be a gold sink, its not going to work if its too costly.
thats what all the 15k armour bits are for, after all.

Thanks for the replies all, I strongly agree with the idea of being able to dye multiple parts of the same piece a different color. BUMP!

Great idea! Especially being able to preview. I have a friend who is obsessed with pink. Well she eventually managed to dye her staff pink by mixing... orange and... blue, I think. Something you would never expect.

As for the second idea mentioned, sounds nice but I doubt it will ever fly. People only want the best you know. Why else to they run to Droks way before they're ready for it? If they use the cheaper guild hall at all, it's as a transition to the bigger, more expensive one. There has to actually be something to *do* at a guild hall too. You can have your own private area just by going outside a town with 7 other friends, or use guild chat.

true, but you dont have a quiet, mob free zone to yourselves till you kill all the critters.

lets face it, there are a large number of guilds that have 10 and under members.
i have one, and there are 2 people in it, me and my best friend.
the reason?
i liked the idea of a guild, and he was tired of getting asked by compleet strangers if he wanted into a guild, so he joined me in mine.
i originaly planned to be a newbie helper guild, but that went outa the window, and since both of us are so not into PvP, we have little do do as a guild.

so, a mini-hall would not only be a perfect solution ofr the small guild problem, but it would keep those small guilds out of the big guilds hair.
sure, there would be rules, like only mini-guilds could fight mini-guilds, and if you gained more than say, 25 members max (assuming theres a 100 to 250 person in guild max, i have no idea what the maximum number of guildies per guild is at the moment), your hall privalages were closed till you ether fessed up the cash or sigil for the bigger hall, or bumped a non playing member out ect.
you probably wouldnt gain much points or whatever it is you get when you GvG...you might not even get ANY, but most of these guilds arent guilds for that reason, their ether small amounts of friends that want to stick together, or bunches of RP fans.
you might be restricted to small and medium guild storage (if or when that is implemented)
you might only get the minimum of guild items/decorations ect and the lowest NPC stuff. if there were per stores for rangers, you might only be able to store 2 rather than up to 6 (assuming 6 was the max, again, im throwing stuff out as examples here)

see, a small guild hall would satisfy most if not all guilds to begin with. most guilds, as they grow, would expand their hall or buy a bigger one.
but the tiny guilds would stick with the mini-halls and be satisfied, unless they wanted all the stuff the BIG halls had, in which case, they stick with the small one till they can buy the big one, get me?

and have you ever played 'newbie keep-away'?
pick someone, make them strip to their undies, then run around the hall playing tag ^^ if you get caught, YOU strip, they dress, and off you go again ^^
(works better with something newbish to wear, but armours ect here arent realy newbish, so undies it is ^^)

the more creative you are, the more you can do, even in an empty space.
hold a funeral for a friend thats leaving guildwars, for whatever reason.
hold a party, get someone to buy a round of dwarven ale and get buzzed in a place that you cant get hurt in.
roleplay stuff.....roleplay fishing, if theres water. roleplay romance, if your dating (but no iffy stuff, at least, not on open channels ^^)
roleplay being totaly ratted, or ropleplay your pally type character...hold a headbangers ball and line up your necro boys, then film them ^^ anything you want.
